Live From the Control Room Session Three: DaVinci and Ion the Prize
Quality Control Marketing and SAE San Francisco present Live from the Control Room Session Three featuring San Francisco/Fillmore’s own DaVinci and Berkeley based producer Ion The Prize. Filmed by none other than Casual, the Hieroglyphics Rap God, this session and track titled “Purple Sky” were recorded at the SAE San Francisco campus, by SAE students. SAE San Francisco is the newest campus in SAE’s long legacy of training students for success in the Audio and Entertainment Industries. The top notch studio facilities are used for education purposes only and students never have to worry about losing out valuable practical time to commercial projects. The SAE staff are dedicated to the success of their students and work with them to develop their personal interests in recording, producing, mixing and mastering great music.
The video and track are the result of the “Live from the Control Room” Beat Battle which took place late 2011 at 330 Ritch in San Francisco. Ion the Prize was one of the finalists and decided to pair up with DaVinci, who was a judge and performer. The song will be featured on the “Live from the Control Room” EP along with the other participants including A-Plus of the legendary Souls of Mischief/Hieroglyphics crew, Lateef the Truthspeaker from Latyrx/Quannum, Vallejo’s own Moe Green, and Fillmore’s own DaVinci, known as one of San Francisco’s most capable lyricists. The winning producers, Cache, Poetiq Beetz, Lambo Got Em’ and Ion the Prize provide the backdrops and the Bay’s finest hold down the rhymes. Stay tuned for Session 4, the videos (all shot by Casual) and the official release of the “Live from the Control Room” EP coming in the upcoming months. Announcing the Launch of www.livefromthecontrolroom.com

Live from the Control Room is a Bay Area based hip hop production platform created by Quality Control Marketing and pro audio school SAE. The Live from the Control Room series includes a 16 producer beat battle, concert series, a string of music videos, and a professionally produced EP featuring the Bay Area’s top MC’s paired up with the hottest up and coming producers.
The first phase of the series was the “Live from the Control Room” Producer Battle and concert, which took place this past September. The battle was comprised of 16 up and coming producers from the Bay Area, with the judging panel comprised of four of the top MC’s – A-Plus (Souls of Mischief/Hieroglyphics), Lateef the Truthspeaker (Latyrx/Quannum), Moe Green (iM/Out Crowd), and DaVinci (SWTBRDS/Thorobred). The top 4 producers from the battle then were paired with the four MC’s to record and create an EP and video series. Stay tuned for brand new videos chronicling the recording of the official “Live from the Control Room” EP, filmed by the one and only Casual from Hieroglyphics and Roy Miles Jr.. Look out for the EP to be released early 2012, and the final video from the winning tandem of Lambo Gott Em and A-Plus.

J.Pinder feat. Mistah Fab – Dream Killers (Official Video)
They used to be called haters. The people who push their own sense of self loathing and misery on you, telling you that what you pursue is not attainable, that you will amount to nothing. They can be peers, enemies, friends, family even the media. J. Pinder and Bay Area MC Mistah F.A.B. tackle them head on in Pinder’s newest cut “Dream Killers” and dodge every countermove of those shifty killers with ease.
As the Pinder, Ben Pramuk and Martin Feveyear produced beat rolls in with filtered synths chiming and a bit reduced bass line J. arrives first. With trademark lyrical tact, confident delivery Pinder reflects, “Sometimes I wonder if I’m too real, too down to earth, not enough fun / Not enough play, too much work, not enough sun”. Lead PWM synths cut across blare as he describes where and what he has heard from the dream killers over the years, “Heard it too many times that I’ll forever stay local” and unlike other anti-hater anthems you get the real sense that Pinder is indeed showing us his hand. The dream killers have hurt him, their words have injured him. However in typical J. Pinder fashion he follows up with determination, hope and courage, “They are the misery, that loves company/ They are my motivation/ They are my inspiration” and you feel that.

J.Pinder – Go Far (Official Directors Cut)
In “Go Far” J Pinder again teams up with director Jon Augustavo to tie a visually arresting style to the ultra smooth track. The story of love and loss, on the trains and streets of New York, simultaneously juxtaposes and compliments the deep lyrical material of the new Pinder single. Artful and stylistically original – the video conveys a strong image of the road that J. Pinder is moving along as an artist.

Prozack Turner and Marc Stretch are Foreign Legion. Their debut album, Kidnapper Van (along with DJ Design) broke new ground for underground hip-hop and took playful shots at the industry and art that spawned them. Several tours around the world resulted in the party-driven Play Tight, soon after. The trio became a duo and next came The Secret Knock. An introspective, albeit brief, look into the minds of two musicians that still love the art of rhyme.
Guess what, good people? Good music is still alive and well, at least in the Bay Area. Foreign Legion returns with their newest original offering, Night Moves. The Oakland based duo took some time off after their previous release to work on various ventures, away from the group. They re-connected in the studio and the result is a 13 track opus that finds the group as focused and hungry as ever. Contributions from G Koop (Jake One, EA Ski), Rashaan Ahmad (Crown City Rockers), Grandpa J, Intr0Beatz, DJ Flip (ITF Champion) & DJ Buzz (Waxolutionists) help give the album a sound that is well worth listening to over and over. You don’t have to wait for the sun to go down make some Night Moves.
